Storms formed about 10 miles west of me and instantly went severe. Their appearance on radar was nothing more than a puny popcorn storm at the time so I figured I would watch lightning out of my window but I got more than what I was expecting. 69mph gust measured a couple blocks from my home at nearby Midway Airport.
