• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

MCD 1196 just issued. Watch to be issued shortly.

A very classic looking supercell has formed NW of Hill City, KS. As evident on the 1608Z-1807Z KGLD 88D loop, the storm is deviating quite significantly to the right.

Meso has tightened up on last scan (1837Z) with this storm. An inflow notch has also developed on the southwest quadrant. Storm should intensify as it moves south or even southwestward into more unstable air.

Tornado warning issued now on that storm. I would expect motion to continue in a S motion.

That cell is all by its lonesome... it has had a meso marker off and on for quite a few scans and just as I am typing this, it took on a TVS. There was a psuedo-hook echo present for a few scans but it appears to be about to ingest some convection to the south.

~4000 j/kg Surface Based CAPE
~2500 j/kg Mixed layer CAPE

SHAVE is calling into the area (E Sheridan Co and also called on the first storm in NW Graham)...motions are slow and leading to 20 min. worth of hail fall time. Largest yet has been golf ball sized.

We're just north a storm that has formed south of Lamar Colorado along the dryline. Had a large overshooting top on it about 20 minutes ago and still has a smaller one. Trying to figure out if I should intercept this one or go east into KS hoping to intercept something up there.

Tornado reported @ 2:36 by law enforcement and 2:39 by trained spotters. I can't wait to see Laura Heiden's pictures of this storm.

Kiel, I was seeing VIL's consistently > 80 with the highest being 89 kg/m2... are these values so high because the updraft is almost completely vertical with the storm motions being so slow?

Dunno...maybe....VIL is generally calculated in a "cell-based" fashion...that's where segments of reflectivity are found and then the integration is performed. I would guess VIL is high b/c the storm had 55+ dBZ through the whole thing.

Anyways, just got a measured baseball report on that storm...poor people, had ~35 min of hail fall and then a 10 min break and then another 10 min of hail.

Your storm just went tornadic. I hope you hadnt left it yet to head to kansas.

* AT 155 PM MDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED A TORNADO. THIS SEVERE STORM WAS LOCATED 3 MILES NORTH OF PRITCHETT...

It is getting into the radar hole between PUB/AMA/DDC so it doesnt look like much on GR3 but I am sure in person it is great.

We're closing in on the storm now. Has a large backsheared anvil to it. How is the environment looking for this storm for the next few hours? About a half hour away from intercept :)

As this storm moves SE it will go from cape of around 100 to 5000 and LI's f -2 growing to -10 near the kansas border so plain and simple it will not only hold its own but get into much more unstable air very soon. Stary with it. It should go nuts over the next few hrs!!

I get off work at 4pm and will be on the road heading north soon!

Surprised there isnt a tornado warning out for the storm in Lane Co, KS right now. Look like the rotation has increase over the last couple of radar scans. Storm motion still to the S maybe back building to the SW as more convection seems to fire on the SW flank. In the last 20 min it went from looking like a mcs mess to a huge supercell. Still waiting for at least a torn warning from this storm.

Are there any spotters/chasers on that storm? I'm surprised it doesn't have a TOR too but perhaps the observations don't agree with the impressive radar signatures.
