500mb temps...wow

Looks like 500mb temps of -44 to -50 are forecasted for N. Lower Michigan into Ontario and Quebec by Sunday 2/4. It's been a while since I've seen it this cold this far south. Talk about a cold core !!

also... look at some of the ~250 mb speeds across much of the east coast for saturday night into early sunday. I saw 240 knots over new york on one of the GFS runs early this morning morning.

this is quite a trough and temps are going to be really cold for the beginning of next week.
