Sort of a touch and go day here in WI.
Dewpoints in the mid to low 60's, temps in the
lows 70's wasn't the best setup, but it did manage
to kick off few a funnels and a tornado or two.

Tracked this cell up from IA into SW WI and
then into NW Dane county. Once it moved out
of Dane and into Columbia it blossomed.

The radar images at the links below were taken
minutes after the first report of a tornado spin up.

Nice almost fully enclosed hook echo.

Had we received another hour or so of day time heating
we might of seen more cell development. Dewpoints
just could not make it above 63-65.

Now the temps are dropping into the mid 30's.

So anybody on the storm by Portage and Wyocena? I can tell you I was VERY surprised we got enough clearing for some instability to develop, but since we did I'm not surprised we ended up with a classic, long-lived supercell in Wisconsin closer to the better shear. That storm was tornado warned until it crossed over Lake Winnebago, and although the MKX survey only found EF1 damage the SRV couplet sure looked like it could have been stronger.

Alas, I didn't think the setup worth the time and gas money for what would essentially be a trip home without the benefit of seeing my folks and eating some home cooking.

I saw a few spotternet people (midwest storm team I think it said?) in the area, but they all stayed well southeast of that cell. It sure spun up in a hurry with 90+ Gtg!
