While nothing like a Plains chase an upper level disturbance provided some fuel for a decent hail event with cells in Central NC. I targeted a cell just east of Garner in Wake County, NC at approximately 4pm EDT. I observed a wall cloud (without visible rotation) and 1.25"-1.5" diameter hail. There were larger hailstones farther east but I didn't want to damage the car. Following the event there was quite a bit of "hail fog" and a strong smell of pine in the air.
