Moderators: I am starting this thread for other (non- forecasting) discussions related to today's situation. Since this could be a historic day, I thought this thread was needed.

I believe this is where the thread belongs? If not someone can move it.

Thanks:

W.

Yeah looking huge.
Already some big cells in central KS, with 2 looking like they are starting to hook and already showing signs of 3 plus inch hail possibly falling on radar.

W OK looking good cloud is breaking DL starting to move toward the border with towering CU

Also to note much later tonight the squall line could be very severe on top of all the tornadic sups ahead of it

Scary stuff stay safe all

LOL @ the 4 of us in this thread who couldn't chase today. Sigh.

Very nice couplet near Geneseo, KS. Large tornado confirmed on the ground.

Southern end of the High Risk is looking more like a No Risk. I guess the cap around 650 hPa was stronger than expected. Furthermore, the DL never made a good push today near SW OK. Temps in SW OK reached 90 F per Altus Mesonet. I would have thought that would have been enough.

Perhaps OKC dodged the bullet on this one because I don't see what mechanism is going to fire off a discrete super SW of OKC now.

I will wait for the squall line.

man what is with this guy on KFOR, telling everybody what kind of EF a live tornado is and saying its good news that the tornado isn't as wide...

Im in the Quad Cities banging my head against the computer. I left for Des Moines at 10a.m targeting Osceola, thinking the early morning initiation would increase into W/SW Iowa. I, as usual, came to the party too early!

Incredible gate to gate on the cell near Fellsburg, KS moving toward Macksville at 80 mph. Incredible.

Debris ball being noted by Wichita area media on monster cell NW of Greensburg as well as cell crossing into Kansas south of Anthony KS. What I had considered a somewhat underwhelming day, is recycling.

Macksville KS getting - from what I have seen - the first Tornado Emergency Warning of the day. KWCH has eyewitness reporting a large wedge barreling towards that town, which also took a major hit by the 07 Greensburg EF5

If that's not enough trouble, the supercell southeast of Harper KS appears poised to move into Wichita itself. It has gone through one complete occlusion in the past 15 minutes, and the tracks on each of the tornado vortex signatures are bearing about 032-038 deg, which would easily make it into Wichita or at least the southern suburbs in about an hour.
