I know there is a serious situation across much of Kansas right now.

But thought I would post this. Locals here in Central OK are calling bust and frankly seem almost upset that there has not been any action here. Dry line is basically stationary out west and doesn't look to be budging anywhere. Just a bad rap for all the meteorologists here emphasizing today's threat - which has been non-existent as of yet. Gotta feel bad for them.

Unfortunately normal citizens who don't understand the dynamics involved in forecasting a severe weather event will never understand what happened today.

Tim - from what we are hearing from spotters calling Wichita media outlets - how rare will this event be in having 2 large night time wedges within 120 miles of each other? Also add in the supercell that may pass western Topeka at almost an identical time as what the HArper Co cell may cross metro Wichita, an amazing night. Meterologist Brad Panovich reporting a 207 mph scan of the Harper Cell when it was near Manchester KS, about 30 mins ago.

Bad rap? Are you kidding me? The meteorological community and news community have done a great job getting the word out. That alone will save lives, which is all that matters.

I am going off local citizens in central OK... There has been zero storms in OK other than extreme northwest. People in the OKC area are spoiled with extensive media coverage of weather events, so this one was played up as a big one (rightfully so). So since storms never fired down here, people have the impression of local meteorologists blowing smoke. Little do they know what is going on in Kansas right now with the likely hood of lives being lost at the moment.

Per my sister in Wichita, they have pulled the trigger.

They did not. It just happened now, but unfortunately only as a Severe Weather Statement. So automated alerting systems are not picking it up. A _major_ omission for NWS.

Supercell occluding again, spawning what looks like the next tornado east of Conway Springs. This will most definitely bring it directly into Wichita, pretty much right into downtown. Bad, bad, bad. :(

Next 30 mins will determine how catastrophic this event is solely based off the cell near Conway Springs KS. From spotter recent call in of a large stovepipe cycling to a possible wedge, I'd expect a TE for Wichita proper right around 1000pm CDT.

Latest LSR shows the tornado reformed about 3 miles south, near Mayfield. That would be very good for Wichita.

This is the strongest language I've ever seen posted by a WFO. I really hope we don't wake up to a Greensburg situation.

Hopefully folks have been paying attention throughout the day and taking cover in those places where the Tornadoes came through.

And there are 10,000 sitting ducks at a concert in InTrust Arena. The arena was already saying this morning they would not cancel the concert no matter what and that being in the arena was the safest place. Sheesh.

Scott, if you do up in Olathe you still have a bit of time. We'll keep an eye on it though. Some cold pooling might be up in that region but I was focused on OK and KS all day.

I believe the current track should bring the Clearwater, Hayesville, Oaklawn. Looks as though running along I-35 barely missing bulk of Wichita. Currently appears to be occluding again. Hopefully form slightly more SE of track.

About to be hard to get a good shot into the storm as well so it might not be as occluded as it appears off ICT.
