2/19-2/20/07 FCST: WA (WINTER PRECIP)

Billy Griffin

Looks like another 2-3 feet of snow will blanket most of the Washington and Oregon Cascade range, with snow levels dropping to 1500 feet. In addition, with all the melting that has occurred over the past two weeks, the avalance threat will be high! Storm totals throughout this week should exceed 4-5 feet, if not more. Winds will likely be an issue, as well as heavy rainfalls for the lowlands.

Will be departing to Mt. Rainier National Park for rescue/patrol in a few hours. Park officials are now reporting snowfall rates in excess of 2" per hour, with much heavier snow forecast for tomorrow through the remainder of the week.
