3-4 inches of snow so far has fallen in the Peoria area with that pesky low that caused blizzard conditions over the last couple of days over the Plains and NW Midwest. LOT is officially calling for 2-5 inches of snow for their cwa today, however amounts could easily be higher as there has been a few unconfirmed reports of 4 inches already. With the NAM showing another 2 to possibly 3 inches of snow through Sunday afternoon for me, total storm amounts could be close to 6 inches which has caught ILX, DVN, and LOT off guard and just about everyone else. The roads are in terrible condition attm especially in rural areas as the snow is very fluffy and is blowing around with ease. This has been a nice little surprise for me.

We have several inches here at the parents house in the Ottawa, IL area, and the snow has continued on a light to moderate basis all morning. The 17Z RUC continues to show SN persisting through at least 02 UTC on Sunday.

Significant surprise event continues for me with 5.5 inches officially for Peoria and about 4-4.5 here in Morton. Northern IL is getting creamed fairly good now with close to 5.5 inches already in some places a little past noon and still falling. I would bot be surprised if LOT upgrades to a winter storm warning for a large area of their cwa and possibly ILX will upgrade to a warning as well for their northern counties. With light to moderate snow expected to persist occasionally through tomorrow afternoon, I would not be surprised to see snowfall amounts in the 7-11 inch range.

Wow...ILX FINALLY issued a winter weather advisory for us until midnight tonight. On top of the 1" we got last night, we're expected to get another 2 to 4". Quite the surprise...and we're not ready for it either! Don't have the plow on our tractor...and we're getting drifted shut

Well, FINALLY with this last piece of energy wrapping around the system we got something more than just a dusting of snow from this storm. About 2 inches in Edwardsville - no big deal, but nice to finally get in on the action.

I measured 8.6 inches of snow total for the storm with 3 inches since midnight. Nice surprise storm for sure! The Peoria area received anywhere from 8-10.5 inches.

Picked up about 8" here since noon on Christmas day. Not bad for "wraparound" snows. Truly remarkable storm system.
