surprised there isn't a thread for this already, but there is a very intense bow echo heading straight for st. louis and northern suburbs right now. warning are for 80 mph winds and quarter sized hail. however grlevel3 has had hail markers up to 2.5". also there have been several tornado warnings for brief rain wrapped tornadoes and about 15 minutes ago there was a very strong rotation signature on the north end of the line. the worst of the line might go just north of St. Louis

Probably no thread since there are no chasers on it Looks like a lot of dime sized or smaller hail with strong winds, I think that would remain the threat. I can't see this having massive stones or tornados - too cool plus not typical in the junk sections of a squall line.

What I find particularly fascinating about this event is the MCV being resolved on KLSX. It isn't often you can see a circulation of this magnitude on an 88D.

The circulation is pretty obvious when viewing a loop of BR also.

i have a friend who is a storm spotter in the jefferson city area who works at the highway patrol office. several highways have major accidents due to the amount of hail on the ground. the creek outside the jefferson city hwy patrol office was running out its banks and jcpd was shutting down roads. he also has family in the area where the tornado warning is. will give updates as he calls me back.

tornado watch was issued shortly after i started this thread, and promptly the storms weakened!! we'll see if they reorganize to the south....

it was amazing that the bow echo was in so many counties. and then the cells split and the nothern one was the tornado warned cell. i personally havent seen that type of activity in years, its amazing to watch. lets hope all are ok in the area. his parents got stuck in the "up to 80mph" wind squalls.
