  • After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

These are all awesome shots! I can't get lightning shots with my Fujifilm, so I will just sit back in awe of all of yours.

I got this one with the Rockies along with it! 14000' Mt Evans is that prominent peak.
That's just sick. One of the most incredible lightning shots I've ever seen!

I've never managed to get CG's with an interesting foreground or background, but I like the transparent rain curtains and shelf cloud in this shot. It was taken just a mile from my apartment on the outskirts of Norman in June 2008.

This last image was taken in film years ago and was scanned. Why it's grainy

Now, that's a heck of a shot Martin. I'd be very proud to have taken that!

Thats awesome Doug, love how the left bolt has positioned itself over the top of the church.

Awesome shots! I knew that by starting this thread, some amazing pieces of work would pop up! Here's another one of my favs...It was shot West of Stillwater, OK.

I often find shooting lightning in the daytime can be EXTREMELY frustrating! I have only a handful of daytime Lightning strikes. When I shoot lightning in the day, I try to stop my cam down to the slowest shutter speed I can achieve. This seems to help me with a better success rate, than jacking my cam up to say 1/3000 of second shutter speed. I also try and shoot in bursts of 3, every couple of seconds. Like I said it's very hit and miss it seems. I have heard of an attachment you can put on your cam, that can detect the step leader from a strike, and it opens your shutter just in time, but I haven't looked into it yet....Might be pretty cool to try!

Anyways, I often refer to this shot as my daytime masterpiece....Again It's in HDR (My preferred choice of editing).

I'll go with this one from last August SE of Watonga, OK. Got some LP supercell action going there as well. :)

Some incredible pictures in here. I think lightning is the most stunning element of a storm to get a photograph of.

These aren't nearly as good as most of the others, but the best I've gotten:
