• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

You know you're a storm chaser when...

You visit NOAA, SPC, and other websites more than 20 times a day… in January.

Your family tries to initiate a “drug intervention†after overhearing your private phone conversation about “GFS, NAM, MLCAPE, dryline and MCS-OF N of KOUN…†and assuming it was secret-code.

“Overshooting Topâ€, “Rear Flankâ€, and “Moist Tongue†gets you excited in ways that are acceptable in public.

:P

You hear the weekly Wednesday test of the EAS and jump out of a complete, sound sleep and grab your pants, keys, radio, and jacket before the test message is given... Yeah, it happened...:(

When you hear the word touchdown...and it actually means something other than a football player entering the end zone. And...When the word interception means something other than a football pass.

When you are stuck at your job, you call your spouse or girlfriend (boyfriend) at home and try to talk them into grabbing the digital camera and go outside and take pictures of those distant supercells or line of severe thunderstorms.

Your adrenaline begins to flow and you start getting a few goose bumbs after reading SPC 4-8 Convective Outlooks like this one...

DAY 4-8 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0328 AM CDT MON APR 13 2009

VALID 161200Z - 211200Z

...DISCUSSION...

LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO SUGGEST HEIGHTS WILL FALL OVER
THE SRN ROCKIES/HIGH PLAINS AS UPPER LOW SETTLES INTO THE 4-CORNERS
REGION THURSDAY. THIS FEATURE SHOULD THEN SLOW ITS EWD PROGRESSION
INTO THE HIGH PLAINS DUE TO DOWNSTREAM RIDGE THAT IS ANCHORED NEAR
THE MS VALLEY. STRONGER FLOW WILL EVENTUALLY OVERSPREAD A GRADUALLY
MOISTENING BOUNDARY LAYER ACROSS THE SRN HIGH PLAINS AND THIS SHOULD
RESULT IN A MULTI-DAY CONVECTIVE EVENT ACROSS MUCH OF TX/OK/KS/NEB.
WITH DEEP CONVECTION EXPECTED TO INTERCEPT THE GREATEST INSTABILITY
ACROSS TX/OK SEVERE THUNDERSTORM THREAT MAY BE LIMITED FARTHER
NORTH...DESPITE CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL WITHIN OTHERWISE FAVORABLE
ENVIRONMENT FOR ORGANIZED SEVERE STORMS. GIVEN THE EXPECTED SLOW
MOVEMENT OF UPPER SYSTEM NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORM CLUSTERS AND MCS/S
SHOULD EVOLVE DURING THE DAY4-5 TIME FRAME.

...when you take a shower and you see your shampoo suds circle the drain counter clock wise.
...when you drive thru the blow dryer at a car wash, you pretend you are driving thru the RFD of a supercell you are chasing.
...when my dog Bear-Bear relaxes after a storm passing thru. I'm still stuck to the ceiling and trying to head out the door to chase the damn storm!! LJK.

...In public, people ask you “are you ok?â€￾ because you’ve been staring upward into the sky ...and haven’t moved in a pretty long time.

...Your co-workers and associates now rely on you more than on Jim Cantore.

...That $12,000 house in the middle of "Nowhere" in Kansas looks like a great Summer Home.

Gee, guys are we gonna have a bidding war on that little fixer-upper?
Melissa

Depends...

Well the bidding war depends on whether we are talking about the one in Hutchinson, Emporia, or Ottawa....

ALL over 1500 square feet - ALL under $20,000

Mortage payments of about 70 bucks a month....

:P

I think I can swing that.

*Putting my fists up* "Back off!!! I saw it first!!!"

Thought about doing that (house purchase in the Plains) years ago, and the more I looked the more I said no thanks. $50,000 gets you something you want, but that should be a whole other thread.

Anyhow....to add to the thread topic:

You know you're a (old skool) chaser when:

You get sick of all attention and stop admitting your a chaser.
