• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Would you mobile mesonet for science?

It certainly is apparently most would be on board. So the next step is to see how to go about getting folks to actually do it.

Let's look at what would be acceptable (reliable, accurate, etc.) data and instruments. I've used Davis for chasing purposes, but it's know they are useless while on the move. Perhaps someone familiar the Vortex2 and similar mesonets can give some more precise discussion on the needs from the science community in order for the venture to be worth the time and cost.

Perhaps a "how to" type discussion would require a different thread?

I've done all that part. I just need a few minutes to document the discussion I've had with folks that build/built the scientific mesonets. I was hoping to build a website with all the details, but I just haven't had the time.

But briefly...it's not just about what parts to use. It's about everyone using the same parts. It is of limited value to the scientific community if everyone goes off and runs whatever they want. The error in readings would be so great in comparison to each other as to make the data nearly unusable.

Sure, but i won't be out often. I live in Houston and Im still in high school.

I think this is a great idea. I would be on board, as long as the money factor wasn't too out of control. All my money goes towards chasing, being a broke college student and all.

I see that this thread has for the most part, died a while ago, but i was wondering. Is this still a thought, i see that you are not currently working on it but is there a chance of this happening in the future. I would definately love to do this.
