• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

My goodness, Typically by this time of Year my area gets at least 4 Thunderstorm days and thus far almost every 3rd day we are getting snow by the inches. We have yet to see a thunderstorm here. Yes we did have highs in the lower 70's the last 2 days yet todays high was 40 and it is currently snowing what we call "popcorn snow". On radar a storm did pop up today near me yet did not put out any cgs or lightning from what I saw. It is getting old quick here.

For those that have already entered there 2008 Chase season I am throughly jealous, lol. What I wouldnt give just to have a weak thunderstorm at the moment. Thunderstorm deprivation syndrome is in full.

Anyone else's weather struggling to change to spring out there?

Gerrit,

We had snow here in Seattle yesterday and more snow forecast tonight for levels near 500' ASL. The PSCZ was very active, producing at times, heavy snow squalls at elevations near sea level just on the north side of town. Two+ feet of snow still common in storms in the Cascade foothills.

All the tulips are in full bloom, and what a beautiful scene with all the color and snow falling. This has been quite a unique Spring here in the Pac NW indeed!
What's funny though, is it's more "green" here than when I left Norman last week. Meaning... the trees are in full green and the vegetation isn't dormant.

Here is Wisconsin we had the first tornadoes (EF1 and EF3) of the year during the early
days of January. But then we had snow showers this past Monday and
are hardly able to make it out of the low 50s right now.
I am in the Southern part of the state...Spring ain't sprung completely yet here.

Where's this global warming they all talk about?!?!?! ;)

I fear though that the clash between the cold/dry Vs warm/moist air mass could
set us up for some very intense events in the coming weeks as the two
battle it out.

We could see a couple days where we are at 75 plus for temps with 68-70 dewpoints and have, once again, one of these potent cold fronts come slamming in with temps in the 40's behind it and the spit hits the Spam...

I know what you mean about winter not giving up. I went up to Leadville last weekend and we still had a snow depth of 26"! At the same time, the low temperature the morning I left (4/27) was 4 degrees F. My parents called me this morning and said they were experiencing blizzard conditions and heavy snow (right now it is 18 degrees with light snow).

Here in Ft. Collins, the weather has been much nicer. We had about 80 degrees yesterday and the whole week has been really nice. It has been awesome to actually experience a real spring for the first time in my life. Sadly, we still have only had one thunderstorm day here, but at least there is not 2 ft. of snow on the ground! Hope conditions up there improve soon for you. :)

Hi Gerrit,
We used to get this "popcorn snow" in Montana all the time. It's actually graupel and comes from convection. Were it a little stronger, you'd no doubt start to hear thunder... don't worry, it's coming. ;)

I could use some global warming...

May 10, 2008 and I had an inch of snow to look at during the morning. I know this in North Dakota but accumulating snow in May is still pretty unsual. Just about every day the last two months has been below average in the temperature department.

Wow, winter really will not give up in Leadville. We have had 15.4" of snow over the past two days with 11.9" of that falling during yesterday alone! We have now had 204.5" of snow for the winter. The temperatures have been low as well with it dipping down to 18 degrees last night.

Here in Ft. Collins it has been relatively nice. We have not had any snow, but did have some cold rain on Monday night. However, this is the last week of classes, so this weekend I will be treated to at least a foot of snow still remaining on the ground up in Leadville. :(

1-2 feet of snow forecast here for the Cascades near Seattle... with perhaps one to three inches as low as 1000 foot elevations!

6/29/08 - made it up to Paradise (Mt. Rainier) today and still, even though temps have finally made it into the 60s and 70s, most places packed with over 20 feet of snow!

Some are speculating that the 5000 ft. snow level will not melt off this year in time for the return of the snows, typically sometime in late September.

It is quite comfortable this evening in the Chicago area. Temperaturewise, this reminds me of the Summer of 2004. Once again, 90-degree days have been few and far between. Precipwise, it's been a pretty typical summer like the last 2-3 years with much of the heaviest most interesting thunderstorms occurring south of I80 or in some cases, south of I74; or north of the WI state-line. Any storms approaching NW Cook where I live always weakening, or turning south. I hate the northern Cook county panhandle!!

Winter finally gave up even at Paradise. All the snow has melted. (We will ignore the couple of piles of snow in the shade.) And I thought the Winters in Michigan were long!
