Windshield Wipers

I got the Bosch Icon wipers after seeing the reviews on this site, and they are utterly flawless. Fog/mist, light rain, heavy thunderstorm, sleet and snow... never had a problem with keeping my windshield perfectly clear since I got them. No streaks, no squeaks no matter what speed. I paid $30 for the pair (on sale from $36) at Advance Auto Parts.

get a can of Rain-X Foam Based Glass Cleaner, it will help those wipers out even more!

I had tried some Rain-X washer fluid additive that I picked up at Wal*Mart last fall, and won't use that again!!! All that stuff managed to do is smear up the windshield......real nice in the winter when driving into work at 5:45 in the morning.....

Use regular windshield wiper fluid, then either get a bottle of rain x and apply to your windshield, or get the Rain-X Foam Based Glass Cleaner and clean your windows real good, and it takes care of the silicone residue problem. I prefer the foam based Rain-X Glass Cleaner, works better than the rain-x stuff you put on your windshield and wipe in with a towel.

Drew, The foam based cleaner sounds a better product than the normal rain-x. I might give it a shot on my side and rear windows. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've never had an issue with RainX washer fluid or the additive. I use RainX green washer fluid during the summer because it is the only thing that takes the bugs off, and in the winter I use Prestone de-icer fluid (the stuff is like liquid fire when you have an ice shell on the windshield) with RainX additive. But the water always beads and never smears.. I also use the Latitude blades because they last (only on my third pair since I bought my truck almost 5 years ago).

As for a foaming glass cleaner, I am very partial to Stoner's Invisible Glass. It works on everything, and it is even safe for polycarbonate (aftermarket window tint, CD/DVD/BD's, LCD TV's, motorcycle face shields/windshields, eyeglasses, etc) which ammonia-based products (like Windex) are not.

it is, see my post down below.

i suggested the foam based Rain-X window cleaner, because it doesn't leave that haze on your windshield like the liquid bottle of rain-x does. it also won't fade the black trim moldings around your windows like the liquid bottle of Rain-X will, but the foam based will still bead up the water and allow you to see better.

gotcha. I haven't used the actual RainX liquid in years. I'm having good luck using their washer fluid and additive. I'll give the foam a try next wash though.

anyone see any rebates on the Bosch Icons. I really want to get those (seen them in action on Ellinwood's car). I couldn't get Bosch to jump on board with a group discount unless I bought them up front, and there was like 200 pairs sold. I couldn't pull that attm (and tricky because of the difference sizes).

I noticed last week that bosch is now selling a version of the Icon at walmart called the Marathon. I have had a set on my car all summer and the performance is great. They're a little less expensive than the icons too, at my local walmart, they're $14 for all sizes vs. $18-27 depending on size for the icons at autozone.

I also found a product called Trico View. Apparently Trico bought PPG or something like that and is now selling Aquapel in stores as Trico View. For $5 I picked one up. I haven't tried it yet though, I still have 2 original aquapels left.
