I currently have a Verizon wirelss card and wanting a better signal while out chasing. I currently stream through severestudios and would like to turn up the quallity of the stream and not a lose connection so often.

So to the people that currently have an amp in their vehicle. What amp/package could you direct me into getting for this chase season.
Thanks

Maximum Signal is the only route i can even suggest. i have tried Wilson and several other brands and the stuff Gordon sells blows away everything else. The Wilson does make a great foot warmer since it gets so hot but as for a cell amp, I will pass. Give Maximum Signal a try, you won't be sorry.

Can someone (I assume Gordon) explain the difference between the "Rockies Kit", the "Ultimate EVDO/HSDPA Amplifier/Antenna Kit", and the new "SCT Kit"?

I see the SCT is gives a "cell zone", which probably isn't a feature I care about much. I mainly want an amp just for my Verizon aircard, so having my own "cell zone" isn't important. Just looking at $$$, it seems like eiher the Rockies or the EVDO kit would be better suited for me. Suggestions?

If you are just worried about a data card . I would suggest the CA819 or Rockies kits . The Rockies is twice as strong on 800 mhz as the CA819 besides that they are identical. If you are using for chasing the EVDO kit is not a good buy for you . It just includes a second desktop antenna that you really do not have a use for. The Traveller amplifier is wireless and will do multiple devices at once.

The Rockies kits require a direct connection between the amplifier and the device. The "Cell zone" units do not use direct connection, they use an 'inside' antenna to connect to ANY cell device. They act more like a repeater in that they pick up the signals from the device using the inside antenna and re-transmit them from the outside antenna. I'm not sure about SCT's units, because it doesn't say in the specs, but 'Cell Zone' type amps usually run several wireless devices simultaneously. The trade-off is that the 'Cell Zone" type is slightly less efficient than a direct-connect, but you can use it with your data card and phone at the same time.

Comparing the Wilson "Cell Zone" Unit to the SCT Unit is like comparing apples to baseballs or maybe horses to cats. The Maximum Signal SCT can be used on at least 8 devices and I have heard as many as 10 or more. I have now used it with 6 devices personally without any loss of signal, or signal strength, or quality of call, or even the amount of bars showing. I know the amount of bars don't mean much since when I tried the Wilson hard wired units they showed 5 bars but I had no service but with the SCT if it shows 3 bars or more I not only have service but the quality has been spectacular and the data on the PC has been spectacular as well. I love the new SCT and woulnd't trade it unless Maximum Signal came out with a new improved version of it and I don't see how you can improve on perfection. Yes, I know eventually it will be but it will be for an upgrade when some fancy new 5G or 8G service comes out years down the road. And yes, I will be in line to be the first to own it!

Thanks Gordon. Much appreciated!

I've been using just a Wilson trucker antenna until now. Is this antenna compatible with these amplifiers, or is that not recommended? Is it better to use the one that comes in the kits?

Believe it or not , The magmount that comes with the kit outperforms a Wilson Trucker . You can Use the Wilson Trucker if you wish , You just need a FME to TNC adapter to make it connect . Adapters are available from www.eur-am.com,

Gordon,

Thanks for giving away a Maximum Signal SCT wireless amp today at the Chaser Convention -- the guy sitting next to me won it. I heard a lot of glowing comments about this product from many different chasers today.

Quick question: does it work on multiple carriers simultaneously? For example, can my Verizon data card and AT&T iPhone use it at the same time? (With both benefiting from it.) If so, then I think I'm going to sell my Rockies amp and pick up the SCT wireless.

Thanks for the help!

One final question....I read in one of the amp threads that the mag mount antenna needed to be isolated/seperated.....what is what referring to? Insulating material between the antenna mag mount and the vehicle?

Edit: I lied....I have another question....is the roof mount antenna detachable? I can't tell from the picture on the website. If so, is it an NMO connection (in other words, could I swap that antenna for the NMO Wilson antenna I already have)?

Yes The SCT amplifier will work with multiple carriers at the same time . Your AT&T device and your Verizon device will both realize the Benefits of the Maximum Signal By SCT System

The mag Mount needs to be on a metal ground plane such as the body of the car . The whip on the roof mount is detachable . No you cannot exchange with a Wilson NMO Mount . Why would you ? the CYFRE / Maximum Signal antennas are superior antennas

I think you misunderstood my question. I currently have an NMO mount Wilson antenna. I am wondering if the Maximum Signal antenna is NMO mount as well, which would allow me to just swap out the Wilson for the Maximum Signal antenna. Just trying to figure out if I should go Mag Mount version or roof mount.
