• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Warning Lights

Nobody wants to do the Ghostbuster's thing, eh?

I think the siren alone on that thing would be enough of a warning for people, but then again they would probably think they were being warned from ghosts instead of tornadoes.;)

Now I would chase in that....but that's because it's just cool...and funny as hell, especially the siren...CLASSIC. They had that ride at this past SEMA show.

Instead of a tornado probe....you throw the little containment/trap things under a tornado and pretend like your going to suck the tornado into the little box.

Hey, doesn't Tim V. have a section in the Chaser Handbook with "Ghost Towns".

Beyond the traditional Light Bar

SearchlightFX.jpg

So I have been seriously thinking of mounting one of these to the top of my chase vehicle. This search light shoots a single 5,000 Watt beam far into the sky. Specially configured this unit to run on 120V and plugs into a standard outlet. Now all I need is an inverter.....

Before you get your panties all in a twist, this is a joke. See you all in KS real soon.

LIGHTBARS!!!!!

My setup is concealed and has all the proper permits required under GA law. It comes in real handy when you're on scene participating in ARES operations so the cops know that you're there workin with em. Have I abused em? No. I can't do that. That would destroy what I'm trying to do as a chaser.

Oh great, I've been Rick Rolled.

Talk about beating a dead horse, is this really worth 11 f'n pages? christ

Yup.. Every season..(WHIPPING SOUND as he beats the horse one more time..)

Here's my question.

Will your light bar do anything to protect you if someone hits you because they are blinded by your lights? How are all of us supposed to know your forward facing strobe light means there's a tornado warning?

Light bars do not stop cars when they hit you. If you are pulled off the road enough, you should not need to 'make sure that people know where you are." I wish Chris Novy would weigh in on this, as he has a very good presentation on light bars in his trainings.

Can you also define 'use responsibility' for us? Apparently, that's something that is lacking on StormTrack.

The new Gen4 LEDs do stop cars from hitting you. They can act as deflector arrays
