• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Vista Operating System

What will Vista do that XP wont?

If you're into gaming, Vista will display much more robust graphics complements of DirectX 10. However, driver issues are still hit or miss depending on which GPU you prefer to run with. As previously mentioned, Aero is cool, but can be replicated in XP with a few freeware downloads.

After purchasing a New Dell Dimension e521 I was thrilled cause I would finally own a Pc that isnt 6 years or older than the current Windows OS. Anyways I found myself along with many others Disabling The UAC and also the firewall and also Changed all the themes to Classic and disabled all the artistic add ons which make Vista more 3d. After doing these customizations my Pc runs great. A couple of problems that you will run into are non Vista Compatible Software. Most (not all) companies are fixing this with Vista support. Pinnacle Studio 9 for example will install correctly, Yet the Capturing Hardware gets configured incorrectly and is not fixable unless you purchase Studio 11 which is Vista Compatible. You will find that some Software will also give you the message "WinXp or Prior not detected, Closing setup" and also Software that will install but not run.

Another Potential Problem I have found is using "Thumbnails" for folder viewing. If you have many different types of Videos you will get a "COM Surrogate has stopped working" and as far as I have read this id due to certain Codecs or other aspects, Tho the problem is not serious you will find the Message Very annoying since sometimes the pop up appears sometimes 4-5 times at once.

I have also experienced another Problem with "Windows Host Process (Rundll32) has stopped working", Not sure the problems behind this yet. Seems as tho Changing some DEP options fixes this. Not sure if the fix is necessarily good tho.

Be sure you research the programs you will be using to make sure they will work on Vista. Good Luck...
