Ahh cool ... thanks, Tim ... I've been trying to figure out how to structure a Google search for this joint.
....I did the reboot and have turned off search temporarily to conserve CPU cycles until we've made sure things are under control (you can still search via Google... e.g. lightbars site:stormtrack.org).
Where did the New Posts section go?
I'm under the impression that the 'New Posts' features relies upon forum search, just as the "Find all posts by [member x]" feature. AFAIK, when search is turned back on, the "New Posts" feature will re-emerge.
This forum was crawling yesterday (and a few days in the past week), so I imagine that Tim had to decide either to try to cut resources where possible to bring the forum back up to a manageable speed (so we don't need to wait 30 seconds to see a thread, open a forum, etc.) or to leave the search feature enabled but nearly worthless since everything would be so slow. *shrug*
Not sure how long ago you put "New Posts" back online, but just in the last 15 minutes I've noticed a huge slowdown to the website. It was cruising along fine, then it bogged down into perpetual hour glass syndrome.
