Storm Chase apps for the iPad?

Perfect would also include:
- Basic State/Provincial maps of Mexico/Canada.

I doubt that would work as they would have to load a crap ton of shapefile or shapefile like files onto the iPhone/iPad storage area. Assuming you could get that to work there just isn't enough memory to load those up _and_ the radar files. Remember...it's still a phone.

- METAR Obs Plotting
:D

I was just looking through the iPad app store and found "Weatherdeck". It looks like a solid app for adding a few models to the mix and also lightning. Still playing with it but so far, I like the interface. $4.99.

Reviews seem pretty bad - what's the lightning source? Is it doing anything other than grabbing web imagery?

The support link points to a dead website.

rob, do you even have a friggin iPad?

Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be adding my input. I use Radarscope with SN position reporting. I have a link to CoD's vissat on my homepage. I have AccuWeather for the regional radar. I use Wunderground for the local temps/webcams. I link to the SPC mesoscale page, and finally IEM's AFOS page for text products.

Still looking for a viable app to do NWSChat. And I'd love a model interface page that was really written for it, like the AWESOME hurricane app.

The reviews for the app you just mentioned are pretty poor regarding lightning and other meaningless features. What's your input from a chaser perspective? How does the lightning compare to USPLN? Is it just a bunch of Boltek systems plotted on a map?

I'd spend the money on the cheap case and get the $90 3/yr warranty instead ;)

Both...or better. Who the hell buys anything from Apple without the extended warranty! :D:D

The case saves your butt from having a failure after that 2" hail slips in the car and slams into the iPad. The extended warranty covers its after you accidentally dropped it in the airport on the way back home...

I was just passing along an iPad app to check out and was unaware I needed to go into serious detail or that it needed a 4+ star rating to be mentioned here. If you would like to do a full review on it and describe every aspect here, I will paypal you $4.99 for the app. PM me your PP email.

That's fine, it doesn't look worth the time to me, given what's already out there. I was just looking for your opinions of it. Thanks for the help.

Thanks - I stumbled upon Monal for the iPad which is free so I'll give that a try first.

ed: Looks like Monal allows direct chats only, no conference rooms. I just dropped the develop a note to see if I'm missing something.
