The LP recorded in western Sydney would not be out of place, nor trivial on the Great Plains.

The system was a closed low pressure system that started in NSW drifted South and deepened over Melbourne. Flooding in Melbourne, severe storms in NSW, where there was some mixing, and dust storms in Queensland.

For MODIS fans go to the subsets of the day and download the SE Australian subset. You will see the low over Melbourne, the Thunderstorms over NSW and the dust storm over Queensland - all on the one sat pic, and it is very interesting.

I hope no one was significantly hurt! How is the damage cleanup going? I might actually get to see some of it :?
