I keep getting this SN software error log after the client is running for a few minutes ,

Error Number: -2147417848 Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients. in lblLat_Change

It had worked fine for a while and since I have reinstalled it on Windows 10pro it has been an issue . What I do is terminate the program and restart it and force update and it will work successfully for about 15min and then start indicating the update to network has failed .
What are some of the things I should do to get this SN program to continue to communicate to SN. FYI I did uninstall and reinstalled it as well as updated windows and no diff. Any sugg.?

Is it the latest version of the Windows official SN client? If so, I would suggest trying to see if a repair of the .NET Runtime fixes this. Microsoft has a repair tool at Download Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool from Official Microsoft Download Center but I've never used this personally so I can't comment on it's usefulness.

How are you feeding the GPS to it? GPSGate or something else?
I did post on another thread, but, I will ask here. John Wetter said that the SpotterNetwork server side was recently changed to require https (this appears to have broken SpotterNetwork position reporting for a number of Android client implementations). As far as I know, the Windows client has not had a software update in a long time (I could be wrong ... I only use it in my chase vehicle), so, could this be an/the issue with the Windows client as well?

Thank you all for your responds . As your question on the latest SN install . I have the latest version installed on my Windows 10 workstation pro with all the latest updates . The client will run fine and upload the gps through COM port 5 at 4800 baud just fine until it starts for unknown reason getting this error log and even though the gps is still uploading the cordinates successfully into the client ..... the client is not passing that info onto the web . So you restart the client and it will work successfully for a few minutes and then it stops linking to the network . any possible options to try?

Honestly this sounds like it could be bad GPS/NMEA data coming in off your GPS. The Fransen GPS Gate program can provide a 'clean' feed to the SN client if you try running that.

Lou - The client supports https, which was the last update I believe included support for it. Hopefully Verne can push an update soon to get it working again on his app.

They ran both concurrently for awhile (http & https) but now http is turned off since it's somewhat a security risk to be sending your 'passphrase'/application ID over cleartext.

Cool. Thanks. One less thing to worry about if/when I dust off and fire up all the components in my chase van.

I do not believe it is the gps feed as it will do that disconnect in Manuel mode with my fixed coordinates. the error log is the same .... will work for a few minutes then start with this continuous error :

Alright, I can kind of verify this issue on a brand new Windows 10 1909 install. I'm getting a different message in my 'server window', but still having the same problem in my error logs.

Hmmmm.... Not seeing this issue personally but I'm not on a fresh install either. Like Ben said the client does support HTTPS as it was the last update.

Thats correct John, It does work when it does however it will then just drop the connection after a bit and as if may be a port issue . But the wierd thing is it will work fine after you restart the program and do the update and the location is updating just fine every minute or so whatever the refresh rate is I am not sure but anyway the program does its thing just fine for a few minute and then gets a disconnect issue and a very long error log if you let it try to reconnect for half a day . I am going to do a FRESH install in another windows 10 pc and see if it still does it .

I figured my problem out. I had a trailing space in the Spotter ID: field. It works now.
Thanks for the update Ben. I'm going to look through the 'account' page again to see if we're populating an errant space somewhere there which is then getting copied to the clipboard when people go to get their info to paste in. This comes up quite a bit so we must have one there somewhere...
