Smoke from Idaho visible in midwest

Some may have noticed it being more hazy lately. Was informed by the NWS today that it's in fact smoke from fires in Idaho being blown as far east as Illinois and Indiana. It's not as dense today as it was yesterday, but is still visible on satellite imagery as far east as the Mississippi River Valley.

Andrew,
I have been working the fire detection and smoke tracking shift at the Satellite Analysis Branch tonight and it has been absolutely crazy over the last month. Strong westerly winds again tonight are leading to numerous large very dense plumes of smoke across MT/ID, including some very impressive pyrocumulonimbus development just north of Yellowstone NP. The Zaca fire in Santa Barbara/Ventura county CA is very impressive tonight as well.
