For me Vis Sat will always tell me so much more prior to convection initiating than just about anything else! Though I'm not really blown away by my current selection of URL links. Can anyone suggest a fairly high resolution 1km 'preferably' free visible satellite link?

Last few years been using Primarily Dupage and (e-Wall nice picture but about an hr delay!) (which are OK but would prefer better if there is better out there)

Thanks in advance

I use several sources, but SimuAWIPS is probably my favorite. There's still a delay at times, but it's often only 15-30 minutes. You can zoom in to the region of your choice by using the "Maps" list. You can also access infrared/WV, scroll back and forward in time with your mouse wheel, and add all sorts of overlays. It's also handy to have access to various models and obs all in the same place, and you can configure it to play an audio alert when watches/warnings are issued. I have it set up to alert only when TORs are issued.

Well I'm quite impressed with the high resolution of the Satellite imagery and the relatively short delay for updates. Also not a bad alternative to other forecast model programs.
Many thanks

You have all listed some good feeds, and there are others, but remember that the images are pretty much all the exact same photos; from GOES-E. The images from allisonhouse as presented on GRL3 are timely, and that is my primary source whilst chasing. There's hardly any reason to view anything else, IMO. Just for fun, though, you guys might want to check out the "build-your-own" url's I created years ago, but rarely actually use:

Southern Alley:

Northern Alley:

Yeah, I use SimuAWIPS a lot. It's not nearly as comprehensive as AWIPS, but it's got most of the major tools you might need. The multi-window display (button underneath "Tools") is handy as well. There were plans to add a bunch of other features, but unfortunately non-compete agreements have prevented the owner from actively working on it. Really disappointing as it's one of my favorite tools.

This is true though different outlets offer different quality and resolution for the same satellite. Some of which are pretty much a complete blur when zoomed in and unusable for chasing. Though I agree that in reality anything more than 30 minutes updated to your screen is worthless. Though fine detail for me is just as important.
