Radar detects meteor

Was driving home late last night with some friends and we saw this slow moving fireball that was disintegrating with multiple stages of flashes. I've never seen anything like it before in my life - wish I could have snapped a picture of it. I still called it into the NWS.

I've become a big fan of the Science Channel's Meteorite Men. On one of the episodes they located a meteorite fall in Texas using dopler radar captures. They can also triangulate off of witness reports and security cam/dash cam video to locate the fall area. Much like storm chasing they have hunter convergences. I bet hundreds of people are on there way there now to search for fragments. Some larger meteorites can gather tens of thousands of dollars on the collector/museum market.
