• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Questions about Baron Mobile ThreatNet

Just a couple of questions:

I can't seem to get my Garmin GPS to integrate with ThreatNet. Kind of an annoyance when out chasing.

Also, I can't get ThreatNet to display severe thunderstorm- and tornado-warned counties. It shows watch boxes, but that's it.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I don't know if this will work but you could try downloading the delorme serial splitter. Make sure its on the right USB port and it is NEMA enabled.

Warnings: you may need to go into your counties lists and add counties. Thats what i had to do just recently after i relaoded Baron Threatnet.

You're not alone Chris. I've had XM for years and for the last two the county warnings product hasn't worked. The technical support people at Baron no me by name now, but I still haven't found a solution. I ordered the CD with all the software updates on it yesterday and I'm really hoping that will fix the problem for this season.
BTW other people that subscribe to the Mariner package (even though they have the ground unit) still get the county warnings, don't they? I think I still had problems getting the warnings when I used to subscribe to the Responder package, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I had this problem before as well. I was able to fix it by loading all the counties. I don't have MTN any more, but I remember I went to one of the drop down menus and it was an option in there. I also remember that I needed to do this after installing an update. Good luck.

Yep Mike, likely you need to go into the setup and load all US counties; otherwise it won't display any. Obviously support should have covered this, but you know how support is nowadays.

That is correct Mikey. The master mariner package will display county warnings too.

To show county warnings I believe you need to setup your counties. In Threat Net - Go to ===>> setup/configure counties. Select the states/counties you want active and exit. You can also just add all USA states and counties (although this will likely increase loadup time for start ups.) I just use the states I know I might be chasing in. BTW, if you have radar ON, you will not always see a county that is warned if the radar coverage is over the entire county. You should have a "flashing county warning button" whenever a new warning is received though.

Chris: I'm not familiar with Garmin. I use one of those gps rx pucks that come with street atlas, which seems to work fine. A garmin stand alone unit should work fine, provided you have your hardware set up right. Sorry I can't be of more help :(

Edit to add: I'm not sure, but you might need to re-configure your counties after installing updates. Just a though!
