Pictures in topic discussions

Sorry if this information is somewhere else.

Many chasers when they post a message,they have their pics on the left (usually a picture of a storm or something personal, a graphic or whatever ).

I have a picture in my profile.I thought it would also go in the left of the communicationwhen I send a message on a thread. It did not occur.
Anyone know how to get there. I realize I missed something maybe easy but I just can't see it

I am having a little trouble placing multiple pictures in a thread .
(I)browse/ find the image
(2 ) add attachment

Then the little box below usually the link

but then another window comes up below and seems to said add or something
a number appears
this appears in the window as the number in the thread to show the image
this can be cleared to show another image
but every time I add a picture it is the same

any help?
