My old sony miniDV camcorder broke a little over a week ago and I decided to upgrade to my first HD camcorder. I recieved it yesterday and was able to mess around with it. I am very impressed with it thus far considering it was only $379.99 on amazon (the price fluctuates often). The video is very sharp in bright light and is just plain awesome compared to what I did have. It has a 28mm lens, 16 gb internal memory, 21x optical zoom, full 1920x1080 HD, a 1/2.33 inch ccd, a wind noise cancellation option, and seems to be excellent in low light from what I have seen thus far against video noise (most likely due to its large sensor size). The only slight drawbacks are that the overall image is a tad dim in very low light and the manual focus is sort of strange as there are no focal point indicators on the screen. Instead of the focal point indicators if something is in focus it is highlighted by a blueish tint. It seems to fit in my hand pretty good and seems fairly comfortable to use. I honestly think that this is the best HD camcorder you can get for under $400 and is a must buy if you are on a tight budget or want a cheap HD backup camcorder.
