OnStar to offer 4G LTE Hotspot

Starting this summer, OnStar will begin offering a 4G hotspot in new vehicles. I haven't seen anything regarding coverage, pricing, contracts, or whether or not you have to have the regular OnStar service in order to get it.

Great idea. I wonder if there will be external kits, or retrofits?

If it's Onstar, the per-gig data rate will be astronomically high and with limits and it will take an act of congress to suspend the service. I subscribe to the most basic Onstar plan in my GM vehicle but I feel it's a lot of money for something I never use.

I suspect they will contract with someone like Sprint or T-mobile and market it to "city dwellers"
