I did a little reading up on VB code and found that there is an option to allow the 'nofollow' attribute to be added to links on the forum. Right now you use the bracket-URL-bracket tag to make a link in a post, but this is a normal 'follow' link that passes Google PageRank. That's all well and good for links inside posts, but for signatures, there is some concern that having tons of 'follow' links to your site in the signature all over the forum might have a negative SEO impact on your site's rankings.
The syntax for nofollow links is apparently bracket-NOFOLLOW-bracket, just like URL - but this tag has to be enabled in the forum settings. There is also a global nofollow option, but this makes ALL links on the forum nofollow (which we wouldn't want unless we were constantly getting spammers posting).
The tag would allow user-level control over what links were nofollow. Do any of the admins know if this is an option?
