Hello everyone! I finally decided to stop lurking and to join up, so here I am finally. lol I'm not a chaser nor spotter, just a complete newbie weather enthusiast. Moved to Texas several years ago from the North East and have become fascinated by the weather here, which at times can be unnerving to say the least. lol That lack of understanding of the weather has caused me to try to learn more, which is where I'm at now. While I don't chase, I would love to someday hook up with a chaser and head out to see the storms to learn about the mechanics of the storm structure. Of course, seeing a tornado would be a GREAT bonus but learning is what I'm most interested in.

Hello, all. My name is Eddie Dixon. I've known about Storm Track for quite some time, but only recently got around to signing up.
I am an undergrad meteorology student at Plymouth State University in NH who has been fascinated with severe weather since sometime around 1993. One of the earlier memories I have of my interest in weather comes from my second grade year, being really excited to get to stay up late to watch the Weather Channel Special Presentation The Chase in 1995, being enthralled by the show, and talking about it all the time at school afterward.
I have never been storm chasing, but would very much like to go someday. I have also yet to see a tornado, despite living in Tornado Alley for most of my childhood (from North Dakota to Texas...Dad was in the Air Force) and being under numerous warnings, though I did have the opportunity to hear one about a mile behind my current residence in Virginia. (It was obscured by trees.)
I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the boards here (reinforcing what I'm learning in the classroom). I really want to learn all I can about storm mechanics and structure. I'm also looking forward to getting to know the chasing community in general.

Hello everyone! I used to subscribe to the hard copy version of Stormtrack many years ago. I miss receiving it. I happened to stumble across this web site while doing an Internet search. I'm glad to be a new member. Here's a little bit about me from a "weather related" perspective.....
I've been interested in storms since I was a little boy. Believe it or not, I used to try and chase thunderstorms on my bicycle! LOL. After discovering the futility of that endeavor, I dedicated myself to riding around my neighborhood whenever the NWS issued a storm watch, and warn everyone I could find working outside of the weather situation. That was good fun.
By the time I was a teenager, I owned my first weather radio, and anytime it went off during the middle of the night, warning of an approaching storm, I would pop a pizza in the oven and sit in a chair on the back porch eating it while watching the storm hammer the area.
My first storm chases began after buying my first car at 18, and consisted of chasing down thunderstorms and driving through them. This was great fun until I killed my engine by driving through too deep of a puddle. I had no idea at the time that adults actually did this for the weather service.
I've come a long way since those days. My current storm chase vehicle consists of a 1-ton Turbo Diesel 4x4 pick-up truck equipped with programmable Police/Weather, and Ham Radios; it never stalls when "puddle-jumping." My weather "toys" consist of two weather radios tuned to different NOAA channels, a Texas Weather Instruments digital Weather Station, a dedicated computer with a Boltek (Lightning detection) StormTracker system with Aninoquisi Software, and a UPS backup power system to protect the whole works in case of power failure. I'm also a Certified SkyWarn Storm Spotter.
About the only thing left that I'd like to do is experience a Cat 5 Hurricane; far enough inland to avoid the storm surge, of course.
Well that's a little bit about me. The picture in my profile is of an eight-foot tornado machine I built from a Storm Chaser's video back in the 1990's. I had it set up in my dining room for several years, but with the arrival of my two young sons, the wife made me dismantle it.

Hey everyone, long time lurker and I finally decided to be an active part of the community. I've been a spotter for a few years now and have locally chased, but MN is poor chasing territory for the most part.
For the first time I'm hoping to extend my range southward along I35 to see some good storms out of state. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you out there, and I already recognize my wedding photographer as posting here, so its definitely a small world!

Hi, I'm Melissa Jablonski . I've been stumbling upon tornadoes since palm Sunday April 11 1965. Actually the Twin funneled f 4 that creamed Dunlap Indiana formed right in front of my 9 year old eyes. Been hooked ever since.
I've started painting tornadoes. Thomas Kincaid does't have to worry.
I'm a proffessional artist that chases tonadoes as a very addictive hobby.
I'm stuck at home this year sidlined by a virus caused heart attack.

.I am grad student from India.I like all kinds of severe weather but Tornadoes being my favorite.The movie Twister fueled my imagination.We don't have these weather phenomenons in our country.I would really love to see one atleast .I don't have the technical skills for chase.Last year I tried couple of times chasing few by looking at storm prediction center forecast and once with met students at UNL.No luck.The maximum being trip crossing kansas,OK,AR,MO,NE driving for almost 22 hrs for some weather activity around fort smith,AR.Hopefully may find somebody in chase partner thread to hook up with this year.

I have been a weather enthusiast for most of my life. Storms have fascinated me ever since I was a kid. I finally decided to stop lurking and obtain a stormtrack account so that I can share my experiences and thoughts. Though I aspired to be a Meteorologist, life sent me toward my second option. I am currently a GIS Specialist with local government in Southern California.
Yes, Southern California. Unfortunately, I get to look at blue skys or the dreaded marine layer most of the year. I would much rather be staring at Cumulonimbus tops capping out at 60,000 feet, but family and friends keep me here in California for the time being. I have been able to make a few trips to the plains, and attended school at Missouri State in Springfield. Most of my chasing currently consists of the southwest monsoon or chances for waterspouts during a winter storm.
I am looking forward to sharing my first chase post one of these days! I am crossing my fingers for some good monsoon action in about 4 months!

I'm Nigel Bolton and am from the UK. I had heard of STORMTRACK through various members of UKww and TORRO, so joined a while ago. I dip into STORMTRACK occasionally.
Although I am not a chaser (too scared of lightning - and storms seem to chase me - hence the fear), I like to research storms, hopefully on a reasonably deep level, bearing in mind that storms do behave very differently here in the UK as opposed to the US. Have experienced a good US storm in northern Illinois, where my sister and her family live.
Like to try at forecasting UK tornadoes, and have had some reasonable success. Have two EF2's under the belt, very strong for the UK, vis Selsey 07/01/1998 and Birmingham 28/07/2005, but still have an awful lot to learn.

My name is James Weatherman. I currently live in Great Bend, Kansas. I have always loved storms of all types. I really love watching tornadoes and other severe thunderstorms. I have taken may storm spotter classes, and meteorology classes through a couple of different colleges. I was a police officer for 8 years so did a lot of storm spotting and once in a while I would get the chance to be off duty when storms would fire up and I would get to chase some. I am currently taking Weather Forecasting classes online through Penn State. I am really looking forward to get out there and chasing more this season since I am working at a different job that does not have me working all the odd hours. I would like to get with someone that has been doing forecasting to help me out in learning the ropes more. Looking forward to meeting people out there in the field.
