*New Users. Meet and Greet Area*

My name is Jared Thompson im 26, from Ft Worth Texas. I grew up in KS for 15 years, and was fascinated with tornadoes, and storms ever since. I had the Andover Tornado go near us in 1991. I’m interested in chasing locally, and taking still photos, and video of severe weather. I’ve been watching this forum for almost a year, I have learned a lot. Thanks for letting me be apart of it.

If you want to contact me, I'll be willing to take you to the KAMR TV station to see what the mets do there. I chase for them so I can pull some strings for you. Just let me know. If you ever have any questions, I'll be glad to help you out.

Hey everyone, I'm Joe Karel from Minnesota, age 20. I go to Minnesota state university mankato. I really started to get into weather 3 or 4 years ago by studying everything from books, websites, to forecasting and radar. I've loved weather as far back as I can remember and just started chasing/observing last year. Just taking the time this winter to really study up before chasing alot this summer, i cant wait. Hope to meet people out on the road and on here and keep learning!

Hey Joe, welcome to Storm Track. Looks like you've gotten a good start. Hope to see you out this year!

Howdy, everyone, from Texas! My name is Karla Dorman; I am a beginning chaser. Don't have a car (have cane, will travel), so I "Porch Chase" - chase weather off my front porch or on my gadabouts around town.

One reason I "chase" is to overcome a lifelong fear of storms. Also write poetry about weather as another way to deal.

It's nice to meet all of y'all.

Have a great day!

Welcome to all the new users who have joined and I have failed to welcome over the last several months. Consider ST as your support group for an addiction none of us really have any control over. :)

Welcome to Storm Track, Karla!

Hey guys. I'm Travis, and I'm a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma. I've been interested in the weather my whole life, but it really solidified into a career choice for me with Hurricane Cindy in '05 (it flooded my town.) Since coming out to OU, I've gotten more interested in severe weather and chasing. I have a couple of friends here on StormTrack who told me I should join, and after browsing through the site, I definitely agree! Here's hoping to a great '09 chase season, and I look forward to learning a lot here. Thanks!

If you have any questions about OU and the METR program here, feel free to drop me a PM.

Hello, I go by Taylor. I am 17 years old and a storm chaser based out of Georgia. I have had interest in weather since I was 8, but recent findings suggest that storm chasing (severe weather) is my favorite area of viewing. I started keeping data and analyzing graphics, etc. starting in 2008, as well as beginning a few chases within a small radius from home. I have extreme interest in storm chasing (severe weather) and look foward to encountering impressive, awe-inspiring events throughout the rest of my life.

Well, I haven't really gotten involved in this thread to welcome all newcomers, but I have always found ST to be very welcoming and accommodating to me. So let me do the shortcut catchup thing by welcoming everyone who has introduced yourself here on this thread. Sorry I haven't personalized this.

I'm glad to see many of you have already found yourselves at home here and have even gotten involved in the Chase Cases. That's awesome; it's a great way to get some chase/forecasting practice in without spending the huge sums of money and time on a real life bust, not that those don't hold their own charm. Busting is a reality of chasing and is one of the most effective learning ops, but if you can save yourself a few of those costly days by busting virtually, all the better, LOL. And there is always something more to learn, even for the experienced chasers. I've learned quite a bit just reading everyone else's chase/forecast strategies/discussions.

So find your areas of interest on the forum and get in there and read/contribute to the discussion. I hope to see some of you eventually out in the big open spaces and perhaps at the NSCC some day. And once again, welcome to Stormtrack.
