Every year the non-profit Mount Washington Observatory holds a fundraiser called Seek The Peak. This is my first year participating in the hike-a-thon and I'm looking for your help to raise money for the 75 year old weather station.

Please follow the link below to go directly to their site and donate to the Observatory:

For those of you who don't know - Mount Washington is one of the few remaining mountain top observatories in this country. And of course it is home to the world's worst weather. In 1934 the observatory had the highest gust of wind ever recorded at 231mph.

Besides recording some really high winds the observatory is a momument to the weather. Observers live on the summit for 1-2 weeks at a time working 12 hour shifts. They take hourly observations and report them to the National Weather Service. Their website contains current weather conditions, webcams, time lapse movies, short video lessons, and some amazing photography.
