Hi Everyone,

With the recent weather here at the Northeast we had some Thundersnow in Pennsylvania yesterday. Is there a way to determine Thundersnow on a Radar (Nexrad Level III) image (that is in Precipitation mode)?

Thanks,
Christopher Zenzel

Yes. You have lightning from AH or another source as an overlay, and if you see lightning while snow is falling then it would be considered thundersnow. If you mean just by radar - then no. Lighting is required to pinpoint thunder.
