• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Lightbars!?! Whats the deal?

Bart has Doppler and a ballon. I got more lights.
Also, you probably would not pull over for a wrecker with yellow or any other colored lights, so why would someone question whether to pull over for other vehicles with yellow, white, green lights?
David's post covers it. Red /Blue pull over, others forget about it.

I thought that stuff was covered in driver education/handbooks everyone takes to get their driver's license?

Red/Blue you pull over, no exceptions
Ambers excercise caution could be anything from a road maintenance vehicle to a mail carrier to a farm vehicle to a storm chaser prone to stopping suddenly no required to pull over (unless you just want to be nice and let them pass)

Ok, well I learned something then. I was thinking if you see an unmarked car with flashers on you were supposed to pull over and let them by... I know it's not a law, but I thought that was the proper thing to do.... could be a medical emergency, or a baby on the way, or any number of true emergencies. Now of course if it's a tow truck, you can tell by looking that it's a tow truck. I'll try to just ignore them from now on.
I seriously did not know what all has been said because I seriously hate reading old threads.

I plan to have everyone beat next season:

Wow...this is the direct opposite of the TIV......it's the TRV = Tornado Runaway Vehicle....:D

You really CAN'T use the SEARCH button and type in "LIGHTBARS".... read all the threads and THEN see if you still need to ask the question ??? You get exhausted reading the old threads but don't get exhausted reading the new thread ? Because you started it ?

how hot does it get in there with those BIG lights?

Hum....

I'll just bet that if all the chaser lightbars were gathered in one place, they'd generate a substantial plume of hot air, perhaps sufficient to break a stubborn cap! Maybe their evil can be used for 'good' after all? :p

(Of course, discussing lightbars creates FAR more hot air than the equipment itself!)

Welcome to the club Jake ;)

I'll pass on the advice that I have learned (the hard way) the last few days. As you can see, I am also relatively new here. Posting controversial threads or threads that have been discussed many times tends to annoy and anger people here. This is just how it is here at first anyway. A big suggestion instead is to try to use the forum as a resource of reading and learning. There is a ton of great information here that can be dug up without making any posts at all (again, something I learned the hard way just recently). Don't get me wrong though, I consider this forum to be a great place with alot of great people and chasers. Also, just so you know, it would probably be a good idea not to make many if any posts in the 'weather and chasing' part of the site and instead try to concentrate on using the other sections and in particular 'educational forum' (if you didn't know this already that is). Welcome to the forum and feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions (I will try my best to help but I am no expert either).

I have a question: Why don't we just ask Tim to create a separate category just for lightbars and storm chasing regulation? That way we'll know where the fighting will be going on. :D

MAY, GET HERE NOW, PLEASE!!! :D

Some get upset because they forget to take their geritol.;) I'm not that way so post a question if you can't find an answer.

Jeremy, If you can't find an answer to a question you have, here or at wikipedia or anywhere else then post away. If people get bent out of shape ignore them. People get upset, stressed out, worked up or annoyed because THEY choose to. They let whatever bothered them get to them and that is their problem for not controlling their emotions. I know it is hard to not comment on stuff that bothers people because I do that myself (I am very opinionated) but if I complain and people don't want to hear it I would understand if they ignored me. Just be yourself and don't let anyone intimidate you into not participating or posting here at Storm track. You won't beable to please everyone anyways.
