I can't find an official copy of Rep. Sorensen's bill but based on media coverage, I see two issues:
- The most important is that it appears the Board will only be able to demand info from some federal agencies and no state or local agencies. If correct, this is a major shortcoming. Much of the response to disasters is local.
- It appears the Board will be located in D.C. If so, it will be wall-to-wall lobbyists and, worse, the people of D.C. are political junkies and don't care about disasters unless there is a political angle to them. It believe the Board will be much more effective if it is located outside of Washington.
