There is a WIFI spot, close by, where I am staying.

Call my dad, and he told me there where waterspouts yesterday
on Lake Michigan, it was on the local news.

I was rather disappointed that I never got to see a waterspout while I was in MI, but I certainly wouldn't want to see one while in my kayak!!!

I saw a clip on TV 8 and one of those was huge. i wasn't clear on if it was off shore or near land

As Kurt mentioned the video seemed to indicate one really large waterspout and several small ones all at the same time. Seemed to form under a small shortwave that was moving through the area. As it moved east a small, but heavy shower formed passing through my GRR location with 1/2 inch of rain.
No thunder was reported anywhere with this.
