Yet another hurricane, Frances, was intercepted over the Labor-Day weekend of September 4-5, 2004 in Saint Lucie County, Florida by myself and many other chasers including Dave Lewison, Scott Mcfarland, Doug Kiesling, Jeff Gammons, Scott Blair, and others!
The storm was a STRONG category two storm with sustained winds between 105 and 100 MPH (higher gusts). The main goal here was STORM SURGE footage, and that we all got because we intercepted this monster storm ON THE BARRIER BEACHES as it made landfall! Central pressure in the eye was MEASURED at 960 MB by my equipment (mounted on the roof). The web update is in progress and should be done by the end of the week of September 9, 2004.
