How about that cold!

Sitting steadily at 0 here in Omaha. Yesterday was much worse with windchills in the mid 20s below. Have a calm wind now as we await a fresh coating of snow, our first accumulating snow this winter!

I don't like it. It's been in the upper 20's or lower since yesterday morning here in the Dallas area. There's also been just enough freezing drizzle to make the streets dicey.
Looking forward to it warming up again.

Much warmer today, while the temp is still 0 F at least the wind chill is only -17 right now. We were getting readings of below -30 before today as far as wind chill goes.

I never cared much about the cold but said hey I cant change it. I just know there has go t to be light at the end of the tunnel. I think I have got so bored that it has thrown me into excitement. What wonders the cold weather might bring. Its 11 degrees in KC at this time.

Don't get me wrong, as I'm not crying about it - but in 'sunny' Sunnyvale CA we had a dusting of snow overnight that melted as it hit the ground. However, the foothills to my W recieved a healthy coating of the white stuff - it is untypical because it usually shows up a bit later - if at all. We get snow on the ground here VERY seldomly; maybe this is the year - at this present trend - to see enough to make snow men.

Five days 'till Winter is properly introduced to North America - but it is definitely saying "Greetings" right now. Put global warming on hold - global cooling is taking its turn...
lol!

Bah enough already with the cold!
NOT looking forward to the next week.
We haven't hit -40 yet, maybe this weekend.

-40ºC or -40ºF, Boomer? ;) Haha ... bad weather joke.

Yeah, you just might get that cold. Take a look over in Russia.

How about another cold front plowing into Amarillo on Sunday with highs in the mid 20's.

There is a mini Siberia in northern Saskatchewan.

Key Lake Airport 4pm local time: -52F .. windchill -67F

I have never experienced temps like that and never want to.

There are stations in Siberia right now that are pretty close. :)

I've never experienced that cold, Boomer, but I did have to do my paper route in the late 90's in Butte, Montana when it was -46ºF (no wind ... valley inversion) ... but that was a damn cold morning to be working outside. (I did my route on foot)

You can't beat the all-time Northern Hemisphere cold-temperature co-recordholders:

Ojmjakon, Russia: http://wmc.meteoinfo.ru/weather/russia/republic-saha-yakutia/ojmjakon (at post time (20/03z, 2pm local time), temp was -59.2C, ~ -74F)

Verkhojansk, Russia: http://wmc.meteoinfo.ru/weather/russia/republic-saha-yakutia/verhojansk (at post time, temp was -49.1C, ~ -56F)

The website belongs to the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia, Russia's state weather agency. Forecasters there maintain one-week forecasts for 5000 selected world cities here. Pueblo, CO is one of their selected US cities - it appears that they chose NWS office locations as US cities of interest - their forecast for Pueblo for Sunday, 12.21 is for a "snowstorm" with 1mm of precipitation.
