Confessed lightning fanatic? Think in high voltage, dream in megawatts? This gallery is for you! Post your favorite high intensity lightning shots...cloud-to-ground, cloud-to-air, cloud-to-cloud, intra-cloud...or just plain raw electricity. The only specification is that the photos, color, etc. should be the real deal, not altered in Photoshop (so we can marvel at Nature's glorious lightshow as it really happened.) If you also have extreme lightning behavior on film...please share! Have fun! (PS...there's a thread in ST Discussion Forum about posting pics, if you're not sure how). We luv rock & roll electricity! 8)

Beautiful images as always Susan. Over here it has been a very dissapointing few months since Christmas with little opportunity for lightning. In fact none!

With Winter just a few weeks away my only hope is with some offshore cells as cold air passes over the relative warmth of the ocean.

Some of my better shots from late last year

Very simple I know, but I like the water.

This small cell was moving at an estimated 40- 50mph. The updraft was literally boiling.

This cell formed as a cold pool in the middle / upper atmosphere passed offshore. It was a very isolated storm. Is it a rare example of a single cell storm?

teach me.

I've never been able to master lightning shots.

I have to get out the format cameras to do bulb shots and times exposures, but not a clue on the digital stuff.

beautiful pictures btw.

Nice shots!!

I have never taken lightning photographs; I recently bought a Canon EOS 350D camera, which can be used to take that kind of photos, but there is a long way to learn.

I have been using a Nikon CoolPix775 for taking my weather photographs and storm-chases but it has not a Bulb Mode.

I'm sure I could show you some interesting pics about lightning next summer; severe storms season will began very soon in Spain  :)

I do straight film. I work with manual cameras, B setting and slow speed film. I have never shot digital. Is it really "there" yet for this type of night work? Perhaps someone can comment.
