Draw isobars at hand? or use software.
I have curiosity as forecasts made in the USA.

I think what you probably see a lot is computer analysis which a person can then go in and fix the things they don't like about how the computer did stuff. Kind of the best of both worlds. I've done hand analysis before and it can be pretty arduous and doing a big area with even the hint of high resolution and accuracy becomes very time consuming.

This is why you have to practice it frequently for it to be of any value to you in real-time. You should see how quickly the SPC forecasters can get through a hand analysis...
