• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

GRLevel3 polling/update time

Does anyone know if it's possible to increase the polling frequency in GRLevel3? My radar images in GR are updating about 3 to 5 minutes after other online radar sources (COD, etc), and of course those few extra minutes are critical when chasing. I can refresh COD radar and see the new image is there while GR is still counting down the minutes to the next update. I've searched around and haven't seen any info on this, and I figured I'd have a better shot at posting here rather than elsewhere (as this issue is more relevant to chasers in the field).

1) Check to see you're on the latest version
2) If you are, check with your data vendor. Sounds like there's a slowdown on their side.

Try posting your question in the GR owners forum http://www.grlevelx.com/owners/ . I recall GRLevel3 being smarter about updates than just polling frequently. It calculates when the next update should be available given the last timestamp and what mode the radar is in. Barring an upstream slowdown an update should be available reliably. But if it isn't it repeatedly tries again with a short interval (which I don't believe is configurable unless it's somewhere in the registry).

Yeah if the countdown is red it means it did not find the update as expected and it's automatically trying again - that's a 30 second countdown and it can't be changed. If it's not red it's using the last stamp vs mode to anticipate the next update as James said.

As mentioned, it is important for GR3 to be kept up-to-date with all of the changes coming up. You should be on version 2.40 right now. You can't change the polling time because there is no reason or need to. GR3 intelligently looks at the mode of the radar and polls when the next scan should be available. This is where the issue of the data provider and your cell data come into play as each time you miss a scan, the timer resets out a bit more because it's assuming you're having connectivity issues. As far as the data, a private vendor like Allisonhouse is faster, and fast enough that you'll have fewer misses on polling for data being it is timed. If you're lagging by 3-5 minutes though it's likely either your version is WAY out of date, or you're having a provider or connectivity issue.
