Strong geomagnetic storm headed for Earth; aurora borealis could dazzle tonight across northern US

The storm is rated a "G3," which is the third level of NOAA's five-level solar storm scale. According to this link, a geomagnetic storm rated G3 can cause aurora as far south as Illinois and Oregon.

The storm hasn’t even happened yet. (typing this as of 9 pm central) How can the article say “is a G3”?

Anyway, visit www.spaceweather.com - look on the left side- look for the solar wind to go above 600 km sec, look for a strongly negative Bz, and for the Kp to be 6 or above

I saw this on the local TV news last thurs.
Apparently the Northern Lights were visible as far south as parts of Colorado on wed night!....
Had I known ahead of time I woulda went out & looked. (though I doubt I woulda actually seen anything anyway...)
