Freezing rain in Hawaii

I was looking at the SPC for warnings on the warning map and I saw some freezing rain in Indiana. I was wondering when Ohio would get some Warm Air Advection because of this low.. Tonight feels cold.

But when I clicked on the frrezing rain advisory link I saw this and it made me chuckle..

Freezing Rain in Hawaii...
Take that you vacationers.

I know about altitude and that there are some high altitudes on the Islands but I never expected to see Hawaii in the winter weather advisory reports.

I have seen winter storm warnings for the high peaks in Hawaii. It happens every other year or so. Those peaks are high, over 13,000 feet, but nobody lives there. Just a few scientists.
