I didn't have the slightest idea before, but I just looked it up: Cairo sits at a latitude that is between the latitudes of Dallas and Houston. So, differing climatologies aside, I am not going to believe that this is the first snowfall in Egypt in 112 years!

You're still upset about that? Sheez. Give it up. I'm sorry you don't understand how your theory about chaff lofting up from the ground isn't possible. It still isn't possible, so let it die. Or prove that it is possible. Or PM me with what areas of your theory don't work, and I'll explain why it's not possible. But however you do it, do something other than sit back and whine that your feelings were hurt because you posted something impossible and were called on it.

The point was that a boatload of people were sending around the fake Sphinx picture. I noticed it wasn't here, and pointed out that people got faked. Sorry that it confused you, or offended anyone here.

As to the 112-year claim, I'd like to see some evidence of that. I have not been able to find such yet.

For the 112 year claim, I honestly can't prove that. I, too, have been curious and have been looking for official weather history in Cairo but I can't find any office or agency that keeps track of weather. All the news sites are only saying that "local officials" said its been 112 years. I thought I saw a couple of links that said it may have snowed there about 50 years ago, but again I can't find anything official on that. But I don't see why it hurts to just go with what everybody else is saying.

Ok, after doing some digging, I've found that this is NOT the first snow in 112 years for Egypt. I've found a couple of old news articles that briefly talk about snow blanketing parts of the country.

It appears that on January 20, 1974, a vicious storm shut down Alexandria with high winds and snow.

But its worth mentioning that there isn't any article saying that Cairo itself was covered in snow. So maybe the 112 year claim is strictly for the capital city.

While I appreciate your obvious passion (obsession?) with ice/snow and its ability to make you money, is it really necessary to join a forum (such as ST) solely for the purposes of self-promotion disguised as enthusiastic sharing of information? After all, all your posts are just you copying/pasting personal blog entries into this forum. Perhaps you could post in the "Marketplace" section like the rest of us who are trying to sell something.

I haven't so much seen the advertisement aspect of the poster (except for his/her first post on page 3), but I do see the remaining posts of news articles more spam than anything. Moreover, the poster has failed to provide compelling evidence to backup his/her theory. One particularly cold/snowy year across North America does not prove a general theory. This is a classic example of a posteriori reasoning, and he/she won't convince many people to believe him/her using such tactics.
