Donations.....or not?

Just putting this out there to see if this would be worthwhile to do or not. when a major STORM hits an area like Greensburg, would there be enough chasers in here that would donate money to help out? As chasers, who see this devastation, and who are always around, it would give us a good name, but more importantly really help out. When I sat on the side of the road, and waited for the tornado to tear through Dumas, AR before I went on in, I was shocked at what a terrible thing I saw when I DID go in. These people needed SO much. Greensburg was even worse...a LOT worse. If there isn't enough interest in this, then I guess those who want to do something can find alternative ways to help, but it would be nice if WE...Stormtrackers...could all pitch in. I know there are a lot of people who WANT to help, but just can't right now, but think about it, and post a reply or so to see if the interest and means will be here. Seeing the damage on CNN and some of the other pics are......speechless.

I gave 50$ to the red cross charity DvD called stormsof2006 so I already helped in a way. The money goes to people who needs it. I wish I could help but money is tight so pribibly wait untill SO2007 comes out before I donate any more money.

The way I see it.....these people need supplies and a little extra cash more than I do. If I have to give money out of my pay check to help others then I will not feel bad about it or hesistate. I am sure if this same thing happened in my town, many of those people would offer to give a helping hand. I am only on 400 a week pay but giving a portion of that up for a while will make me feel better in knowing I can help people out.

Those of us who wish to give should probably give to the charity of our choice who is directly involved with the relief of a disaster and simply insert a letter with the check saying you are a chaser/spotter, your involvement, if any, or whatever. This would increase the coverage of donated funds and residual recognition of the chase community among multiple organizations.
A donation from ST would need to be quite large and be accompanied by a press release, etc. to really make a difference.
You have a great, kind idea and this is simply my opinion.
