Fellow Storm Chasers:

We have started to contact individuals already, but wanted to extend this opportunity to the stormtrack community.

The DISCOVERY CHANNEL is looking for more STORM CHASERS for the TV show of the same name. Are you a professional storm chaser, or a passionate amateur? Do you have an unusual chasing slant, use unique devices and/or simply feel like you'd make a great character? We are looking for 2-3 additional storm chasing teams to follow for the '08 season. If you would like to be considered, please email a short bio, press, if any, your contact info, and a picture to [email protected]. If you chase with someone else, please send one submission for the team.

Come on, let's give TIV2, yes TIV2, a run for his money!

All submissions will remain confidential.

Hope this finds you all well,
Ronan (TIV Driver)

Hmmm.....I wonder if they want to come to the Southeast and do some real risk chasing. :) I might just send these guys an email for the laughs. I'm sure they will laugh as they read it.

I personally would be far to nervous to have the people from the Discovery Channel riding with/following me (wouldn't want to risk saying something stupid or making a mistake and then possibly have it shown on TV ) I like to be myself while chasing which means listening to country music (and yes I sometimes sing!:D), I have mild road rage, and I don't stop to eat, take bathroom breaks etc. when things get "crazy" during a chase.

You mean you guys don't want a 48-page thread here at ST analyzing EVERYTHING you say and do while you're chasing? I can't imagine...
:)

I wonder if they want a 54 year old 500 pound man with a bad heart?...I can see it now...."Tonight on STORM CHASERS...."F-2...Cardiac arrest!!!"

Hey Ronan....Call Me!!!....Hee Hee

Watching the final episode now. seems like it would be a blast to be in a project like that... im sure the plains need more NY born storm chasers (im from Long Island) it will be like "my cousin vinny" meets "twister"

hey, i aint got all the equipment and stuff, but me and my freinds have the 'character' they need for a serious production!!

if theyre down to foot the bill and give me a truck, and equipment to chase those storms...were down to go whereever they want us to and say whatever they want too!! haha

what an oppurtunity!

give me a gas card with unlimited ring ups, a company cell phone...one of those new envoys with GPS and all that...im good to go!

You guys are cracking me up! I see several people sent emails to the casting box, and I will take a look a little later to try and answer what I can.

Thanks for all your responses,
ronan

Hahah.. Yeah, I watched the greensburg episode last night.. Wow, how amazing... LoL..

Some important decisions had to be made.. It was amazing to see Sean draw his synoptic maps out, and come up with Greensburg.. Right where the bigg'n happened, instead of playing the more well known triple point.. Although, they ended up going north to the Triple Point... Just a cool show..

You mean you guys don't want a 48-page thread here at ST analyzing EVERYTHING you say and do while you're chasing? I can't imagine...

Yeah, I can see that happening haha.. It's pronounced Shear not Sheer.. Hahaha

Gosh I can sure think of a lot of past times that would have made interesting watching. There are the goat rope chases, the breakdowns, and the crap that hits you in the dark when you are running to get away. Then there are the times you get caught where you shouldn't be - I can think of a few.

That said, this stuff happens but it isn't planned. Certainly those are the things I try and avoid, but somehow trouble finds me anyway. I always say 'moth to the flame' because it seems I always want 'just a little better look' sticking my nose where I shouldn't. You should have caught me back in the day I use to chase in a BMW! That thing would sure get you in and out of the target area quick. Perhaps that is why I still tend to procrastinate. :D

I think a good show idea would be to pick a day like a high risk or moderate PDS day and have different groups of chasers out - perhaps competing in some way for best catch - kind of like 'Deadliest Catch' show. Video production teams would be with the various teams to catch all the funky antics, misadventures, and comaraderie that go on. Like all reality tv - there would be focus on personalities & conflict, as well threat of the storm environment.

Another idea I have is to talk with Hugh Hefner and get the 'Girls Next Door' to come along. LOL, or maybe that was just wishful thinking on some of my longer chases. :o

There, I am doing your job for you giving you such good ideas. You owe me. :D

I think A good show would be one where the chasers have to film there little click them selves.... No outside film crews kind of do the Survivalman type thing.

You might do better in your search to just come out and ask for what you want. I'm sure there's a certain demographic you're wanting if the TIV crew and that hot target truck chick driver aren't doin' it for ya.

Hi Shane,

These teams are in addition to the TIV crew and the 'hot chick' truck driver. As for exactly what Discovery wants, any team that presents a unique slant. I don't want to limit the parameters too much because we don't claim to know everyone out there, and the unknown may be a good surprise. I will say that I have an in box full of awesome choices, and continue to urge anyone that wants to apply to send.

Have a good weekend,
ronan

PS I like your updated site.
