• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Dashboard Camcorder Mounts

You might try one of these. It's very sturdy, especially if the area where you use the velcro is nearly flat. I actually use mine for a rotating dash light, but they're made for cameras. Can't go wrong with the price. It's got about 8 or 10 holes in it for different mounting places on the plate, and comes with a screw that fits the hole on the bottom of a standard camera where you would normally screw the tripod into.

Got the mount a day or two ago and spent the last couple hours screwing around with it. I stopped by a camera store on friday and picked up a Bogen quick-release and mounted it on the plate no problem. No drilling or anything. I did add a few washers to lift it up off the plate due to the 'release' hitting the plate.

Then tonight I probably configured the thing in 20 different configurations and tried probably 10 different mount locations. It really is a great little dashmount. I finally settled on one and took it out for a test drive. Made a few modifications in the parkling lot of the local Krogers (flat open parking lot so I could test the camera and see if it was level)

I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow.

Ben and all on this thread

I kind of like how that setup goes to the dash. I have the gripper which I like because I can tilt it and it does work on the car fine (outside) . But I would like to use it near the dash somehow - something like that which you have shown below .
I could construct a camcorded setup from a book I have but I don't want the camcorder in front of the seat rest pad. I am also trying to find the best combination of having a laptop mount that does not get in the way of the camcorder. The information below was interesting and helpful also with the pros and cons and gives me ideas.
Thanks for info on this thread and the ideas about the products.

Those looking for a "roll-your-own" RAM mount solution might want to check here:

There is also this Manfrotto mount (good quality stuff, in my experience), as well as this beast that will support 70 lbs.

Hmm, we keep getting these camera/laptop mount topics mixed up here! In any case Eric, that's the model I use for my laptop. I've been very happy with it.
