• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Chasers Stuck in the mud in SD

Using geographic coordinates from GRL3 (45.50047, -99.15244) and Google Earth it looks like they're way into a cultivated field (cultivated at least when the image was taken).

If there are crops in that field I hope the farmers dont demand reimbursement. Sounds like a bad situation but still a better alternative to geting caught by a tornado.

I had this happen once when driving back at night. I was taking a " short cut" to the main highway and the road all of a sudden ended in a T intersection. I was doing like 50 and wasnt able to stop and went right through a fence into a field. Luckily it was dry. Have learned since never depend totally on GPS/mapping. Its never 100%. I have been on roads that never showed up on Streets. It showed me in the middle of nowhere even though it was a good paved FM.

Hope they all get out soon.

I hope so to, it was a very unfortunate situation and the mapping software they had did show that the road they were on went straight through. Given the fact that tornadoes were bearing down upon them, I hope the farmers are understanding of that.

There are a large number of vehicles here. Basically what happened was we all wanted to move east to stay ahead of not 1 but 2 tornadoes behind us heading out way. My streets and trips also showed the road going through.

The road ended, with the tornado getting close so we all tried to bail south and it didn't happen. Nobody wanted it to be this way but it was just one of those unfortunate situations.

Apparently the farmer is not happy...he wont allow any vehicles to be pulled out till Monday or so....owch. Its just grass that is planted here so there is no crop damage but the guy is still pissed. Hopefully a better resolution will come but right now it looks ugly.

Everyone is safe though, and thats what is important.

That sucks, man. Hopefully you guys and the farmer can reach a resolution before then. If all that is planted there is grass, then that is stupid that he is pissed. Given the situation you guys were in, I had hoped that he would have been understanding.

considering how many of you are there.. if everybody chipped in 10-20 bucks I bet the farmer might not have any problems letting you guys get out a bit earlier.

I suppose I can understand his frustration, but to not allow anyone to be pulled out until Monday? Thats a bit on the extreme side. I'm sure he will probably cool off and be more rational about the situation, maybe he just needs to sleep it off. I hear the South Dakota skies are beautiful this time of year :D
