ChaserCon 2010 ***Official Thread***

I registered for my wife and I last night. We're looking forward to another year of getting to know other chasers we have not met yet, and learning a few new things from the awesome list of presenters at the convention.

I registered too. It will be my first Chasercon. Looking forward to it! :)

I'll be there. The title of my talk will be: MAY TRICKS 2009.

TM

No special appearances from Clint Eastwood this year? ;)

When Tim puts on the funny eye glasses with the nose and fake mustache for his presentation he reminds me of that old HBO show when Steve Martin proclaimed he was a "wild and crazy guy"!! I truly mean that as a compliment Tim as you are the "wild and crazy guy" of the convention and help keep us awake when we need it most!

Good day all,

Just registered myself and got airline tickets / hotel / car and such all squared away - Better early than never.

I was even able to get a good friend of mine I work with to sign up as well!

One note about the Red Lion hotel ... I see the convention rates of $74 but I went to their web site directly and got the room for $67 ... Just something to consider if booking early.

My time will be getting in there Feb 11 (Thu) and leaving Feb 14 (Sun). Hope to get some time in the Mountains / snow on Friday!

See you all out there,

As a newbie with basic weather knowledge would this be way over my head? I would hate to go and not understand a thing they are talking about. Do they dumb it down for people like me or is it an advanced training thing?

While a good portion will likely be over your head, there is so much to enjoy. Everything from the style of the presenters to the imagery, etc. It isn't just about forecasting, it's about chasing...which doesn't take a rocket scientist to do.

Even if it is over you head, it is good to listen to and even take notes on. What you learn may not connect until later on as you study. I've found this to be true in many aspects of things I've done. It is commonly the same thing with the DC chapter of the AMS presentations that I attend. So much of it is over my head, but I still take away something, and later on...something connects.

I don't think a single person who is truly interested in learning about weather and chasing would not get a huge beneficial gain from going to this event.

I wondered the same thing before I attended my first time. As Jason indicated, yes, some of the material will be advanced, but if you have the interest and the means, I highly recommend coming and feel confident you will get a lot out of it. It's also a great way to get to know other folks. If you are worried about not knowing anyone, no problem, just find me, and I'm happy to have you sit at our table.
